    40,000 cyber security experts to be produced in India by 2014 : EC-Council

    The International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) which provides information safety education, training and certification aims to train around 40,000 cyber security professionals in India by 2014.

    They have a target of tying up with 140 partners whom they would train. They would in turn impart education to train 40,000 cyber security professionals by next year. They already have 72 partners. The head office of EC-Council is located in Hyderabad and the expansion as well as execution plans would be monitored from there.

    According the government estimates, India would require close to 5 lakh cyber security expert to moderate the threats in the virtual world.
    According to industry estimates, the current Indian cyber security market is close to Rs 1,500 crore and it is growing at a pace of 18% per annum.
    Meanwhile, the company said had received the Industry Leadership Award 2013 awarded by National Security Agency (NSA) for the outstanding leadership in the cyber security industry and information reassurance education.

    To prevent private institutions from charging excessive fee from students, the Punjab government on Monday decided to set up a regulatory body to keep a check on them.

    A Punjab government spokesman said that the new regulator was being set up to rationalize and regulate the fee structure in unaided educational institutions across the state.

    The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting here chaired by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.

    The Punjab and Haryana high court had recently said that private institutions could not be allowed to charge fees from students arbitrarily.

    CAT candidates who are taking test from Seemandra region have got a chance to select another test date for the exam. Media release of 'Prometric' which is the testing authority for CAT-2013, informed that observing the unrest in Seemandhra, candidates would be contacted to choose either Vijayawada or Vizag as centres. The dates shall also be rescheduled along the venue, if required.

    The report states that the steps are being taking in order to safeguard the CAT aspirants.

    The Testing authority informed that other than Vizag or Vijaywada, the candidates can opt for another test-venue location too from the provided options - Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai and Kolkata.

    India's University Grants Commission conducts National Eligibility Test (NET ) twice a year in the months of June and December for qualification as a lecturer in any University/College in the country or to qualify for Junior Research Fellowships. NET is very important to maintain the standards of education at the University/Institute levels. Lecturers are the last teachers in the academic lives of students. Improving the level of education in the country is dependent on the quality of Universities, Colleges and Institutes.
    Arts subjects including Social Sciences and Languages are handled by UGC while Science Subjects such as Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences are managed by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) jointly with UGC. 
    • Eligibility criteria

    Basic eligibility to appear for the NET exam is a Masters degree in Arts OR Sciences by a UGC recognized University/Institute with a minimum 55% aggregate percentage (50% in the case of SC/ST). To apply for a Junior Research Fellowship the maximum age is 28, while Lectureship has no upper age limit.


    • How to apply
    Application for the NET exam is done online in three steps:
      • Application form available online should be duly filled. After successful completion a ‘Bank Challan’ will be generated.
      • A printout of the ‘Bank Challan’ with the fees of Rs. 450 + Rs. 20 bank charges are to be submitted at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI).
      • Around 2 days after the submission of fees the online status should say ‘OK’ and the Application Form, Attendance Slip and Admission Card will be available for printing. Printouts need to be carried at the time of examination.
    • Paper Pattern
    The Examination consists of 3 papers of objective-type questions divided into 2 sessions. Papers 1 and 2 will be covered in first session and Paper 3 in session two.
      • Paper 1: The first paper tests the teaching and researching abilities of the candidate. With total 100 marks, 50 questions need to be answered from the given 60. Minimum passing percentage to clear paper 1 is 40% (40 marks).
      • Paper 2: The second paper is based on the individual chosen subject and is of total 100 marks. All 50 questions are compulsory and minimum passing percentage for clearing paper 2 is 40% (40 marks).
      • Paper 3: The third and last paper is again based on the individual subject however it goes more into the depth of the subject with total 150 marks. All 75 questions are compulsory and minimum passing percentage for clearing paper 3 is 50% (75 marks).        
    Each question is worth 2 marks.

    • How To Prepare
    As the syllabi for the various subjects are available on the official UGC website the first priority should be to study the syllabi thoroughly. Around 80% of the exam is based directly on the syllabi. Other tips include:
      • Study previous year papers
      • Keep updated with current affairs
      • Specially stay updated on recent news about your chosen subject
      • Utilize online study material
      • Attempt practice tests to gain speed

    The Cost Accountancy Certification examinations conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, earlier known as the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWA ) are held in three steps, Foundation, Intermediate and Final. Cost Accounts, known internationally as Management Accountants bridge the gap between Chartered Accountants and Finance Executives. Their domain is assimilating and managing financial information from all areas of an organization.

    • Eligibility criteria
    The courses can be joined at Foundation and Intermediate Levels.
      • Foundation – Eligibility for foundation course registration is Class 10, and the eligibility to give examination is Class 10+2.
      • Intermediate – Eligibility for intermediate course is either by clearing Foundation course or a Graduation Degree in any field.

    • How to apply
    Registration to Foundation and Intermediate courses is possible throughout the year by filling in application and attaching relevant documents, online and through the registered centers.

    • Paper Pattern
    Two different syllabi are used¸ the Syllabus 2008 and Syllabus 2012 with different exam dates although the paper pattern remains the same.
      • Foundation Exams: Each Exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each with total 100 maximum marks covering.
      • Intermediate and Final Exams: Both exams consist of short and long answer questions with 100 maximum marks for each paper respectively.

    In all three examinations there is no negative marking.


    • How To Prepare
      • Study the syllabus thoroughly, try to complete 2 revisions
      • Utilize the Study Material provided by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India,
      • Practice using calculator so you are able to increase speed using it before examinations
      • Attempt sample/previous year papers
      • Use examples wherever applicable
      • For Law related subjects, read relevant case stories
      • Stay updated with current affairs
      • Write answers according to mark weightage; avoid over-writing

    The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET ) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) gives the candidate eligibility for the role of Teacher for Classes I – VIII at Central Government Schools (also Union Territory Schools), and is considered by Private Schools as well as State Government aided Schools. The CTET helps maintain good standards of education at the Primary and Elementary School levels. Consisting of two Papers, Paper 1 qualifies you for teaching Classes I - V (Primary Stage) and Paper 2 qualifies you to teach Classes VI – VIII (Elementary Stage). Completing Both Papers is also an option, qualifying you to teach Classes I – VIII.

    • Eligibility criteria
    Eligibility depends on which Paper you are interested in pursuing.

    Paper 1 (Classes I – V) Eligibility:
      • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education
